As you move in #Puluc, you can land on enemies, capturing them. You then drag them home for ritual slaughter. While you are doing this, your enemy can recapture you and free their warriors again. The game is available for the #PsionSeries3 from cyningstan.itch.io #Psion

The game has just begun: Obsidian (with the black warrior pieces) took the first turn and presumably threw a 2, moving their first warrior from the city. Jade's five warriors (green on the Psion LCD, grey here in the emulator) are still at home, waiting for Jade to throw the casting sticks and move one of the warriors out.

Beginning a game of #Puluc, each player has five warriors lined up ready to set out from their city. Casting sticks act as dice, determining how far you can move. Capture or slay all your opponent's warriors to win. You can get the game for the #PsionSeries3 from cyningstan.itch.io #Psion

A screenshot of the settings screen. These are the default settings: "Human vs: Easy Psion, Throws: Culin, Captures: Forward, Pieces: 5, Highway: Finite." The settings are explained in the manual, but for a quick introduction to the game these are probably the best settings to start with.

#Puluc has been played in different ways. The version for the #Psion supports these variations by letting you tweak the rules. You can select from three levels of difficulty for the computer player, or play against a human. Get the game for the #PsionSeries3 from cyningstan.itch.io/puluc

I sometimes see retro computing posts on here. I have no interest in old Commodore 64s or game consoles, but a while ago I bought a second hand Palm m105 and reminded myself how much I loved mine.

When they were current, I badly wanted a Psion series 3 or […]

Four cute little Psion Series 3 computers at various stages of running Puluc. The Psion at the top left is at the settings screen, allowing the rules and opponent to be set up before the start of a game. The Psion at the top right is at the start of a game, with the Obsidian player (with the black pieces) having thrown a 2 on the casting sticks. The bottom left Psion is well into a game, with pieces having been captured and recaptured although none have been slain yet. The bottom right Psion has reached the end of a very pacifistic game, in which Obsidian has captured all of Jades warriors, which are green on the Psion screen, but none have been slain.

Today, I released #Puluc for the #PsionSeries3! Puluc is an old board game possibly dating back to the Mayans. Two players send their warriors towards their enemy's city, trying to capture and slay their enemies. Puluc for the Psion Series 3 is available from cyningstan.itch.io/puluc

The battle map showing a battle that has just started. Player 1, whose turn it is, has six ogres and two dark elves, these totals shown on the left. Player 2 has a wizard, a dark elf, and a couple of ogres. The stats of the current unit, highlighted on the left, are shown in the right-hand panel. The black-filled bar on the right indicates that this dark elf is in full health.

When two opposing armies meet in the same region in #Dragonfell, battle commences! The players adjourn to the battle map; whoever is victorious holds on to the region. The game can be downloaded from cyningstan.itch.io/dragonfell-p... #Psion #PsionSeries3

A screenshot of the production map, from the perspective of player 1. Regions owned by the player have terrain shown in the same way as on the strategic map, and of those, the ones producing units have those units shown. Beside the units is a progress bar showing how far through production the unit is. Dark shaded regions are those controlled by the enemy, and lightly ghosted regions are those owned by nobody.

Each region on the #Dragonfell production map provides resources for the upkeep of your forces, and can generate more units. You can cancel production in certain regions to avoid producing units you can't afford. Get the game at cyningstan.itch.io/dragonfell-p... #Psion #PsionSeries3

A screenshot of the initial game setup menu on a Psion Series 3. In front of a low-res 1-bit monochrome version of the cover image is a menu with the options of "Human against Easy Psion", "Human against Fair Psion", "Human against Hard Psion" and "Human against Human".

#Dragonfell is for one or two players. Two players use hotseat mode, which is more convenient on a real #PsionSeries3 than on a PC. There are three levels of computer play: easy, fair, and hard, for when a human opponent is unavailable. Get it from cyningstan.itch.io/dragonfell-p...

The Dragonfell cover image features an ominous red sunrise or sunset, with a landscape of mountains, forests and a large citadel shown in silhouette form. Emerging from the citadel are a wizard, some dark elves, and a dragon flying above them. A larger dragon, the game's logo, flies high in the sky above the scene.

As a little Christmas gift for #Psion fans, Dragonfell is released for the #PsionSeries3! This is a #HOMM inspired strategy war game, featuring ogres, dark elves, dragons and wizards. Finish off your enemy by conquering their citadel. Get it from cyningstan.itch.io/dragonfell-p...

Beta testing is going well on the Dragonfell project. I've changed up the title screen, with an image that can also be used for the manual cover, Itch banner and anywhere else that warrants full colour and high resolution. #gamedev #Psion #PsionSeries3

Dragonfell running on four Psion Series 3 machines, showing off various different aspects of the game. Having too many Psions does have its advantages after all. From left to right: the new game menu where a player chooses what level of computer opponent to play against, or alternatively to play against a human opponent; the strategic map where the player gives armies to move around the land; the production map where the player decides what units to produce and where; and the tactical map where battles are fought when opposing armies try to occupy the same region on the strategic map.

Taking a break from MS-DOS, I've been working on a game for the #PsionSeries3 pocket computer. Dragonfell is a #HOMM inspired game where two sides raise armies of creatures and send them against one another across a decaying land, trying to seize the other's citadel. It goes into beta test today.
