The game has just begun: Obsidian (with the black warrior pieces) took the first turn and presumably threw a 2, moving their first warrior from the city. Jade's five warriors (green on the Psion LCD, grey here in the emulator) are still at home, waiting for Jade to throw the casting sticks and move one of the warriors out.
Beginning a game of #Puluc, each player has five warriors lined up ready to set out from their city. Casting sticks act as dice, determining how far you can move. Capture or slay all your opponent's warriors to win. You can get the game for the #PsionSeries3 from cyningstan.itch.io #Psion

A dinky wee Psion Siena in all its retrocomputing / permacomputing glory - look at the layout of the number buttons! It's a fantastic little programmable scientific calculator, running EPOC16 - the operating system for the incredible Psion Series 3+ range of handheld computers from the 1990s

A screenshot of the settings screen. These are the default settings: "Human vs: Easy Psion, Throws: Culin, Captures: Forward, Pieces: 5, Highway: Finite." The settings are explained in the manual, but for a quick introduction to the game these are probably the best settings to start with.

Selling resources on the MS-DOS and ZX Spectrum versions of Barbarians, showing how similar the interfaces are. The graphical Psion versions leaned more heavily on the operating system's own GUI elements, things not available on the ZX Spectrum or MS-DOS.
I worked from the #Psion OPL source code, which is easier to read than the Z80 I used on the #ZXSpectrum. Does the #psion5 have a rom version that included the installer program so you can install SIS files direct from CF?
Mine lacks the installer - I can add it via psiwin and serial but it's a pain!
I know the roms are on a daughterboard - are they flash or mask roms?

I've also just updated the #HaikuOS release of #deark, a very handy little image conversion tool.
It works on most OSes and is great for extracting images from old #retrocomputing files. For example, it converts old #Psion PIC and MBM files to PNG.

A screenshot of the Psion Series 3a emulator for MS-DOS, running under DOSBox. Dragonfell has been installed, its icon showing at the top left of the emulated Psion's display. The resolution of the Series 3a is 480x160; most of the 640x480 DOS screen is therefore blank. Although Dragonfell is designed for the original Series 3 with its 240x80 resolution, the Psion Series 3a runs it fine, scaling up the graphics to fit the Psion Series 3a's bigger screen.
You can emulate #Dragonfell on modern systems via DOSBox and a free #Psion Series 3a emulator for #msdos. There's an emulation package with setup instructions and a version of the game packaged specifically for emulation. Get it from cyningstan.itch.io/dragonfell-p...
