The inverted pink triangles used to mark gay men in the Nazi concentration camps were later flipped right-side up and reappropriated by the gay rights movement, and the SILENCE = DEATH Project then used that pink triangle to draw parallels between AIDS and the Holocaust.

On this day in 1952 gay rights activist and author PETER TATCHELL was born in Melbourne, Australia. In 2001 he tried to make a citizenβs arrest of Zimbabweβs President Mugabe in Belgium for torturing Ray Chote and Mark Chavundula. He was nearly killed by Mugabe's bodyguards.
