Happy "No Kings Day 3" to all who celebrate. I attended a rally and then came home to this, the ever faithful bulbous gray metal ventilation circle on the bottom of my vintage Osterizer Gakaxie blender. That circle is about 4" in diameter and in all the years I've had it I've never once thought, "Gee, those 84 holes aren't providing enough ventilation". In fact, the only flaw I can find is that the words it displays just inside its outer edge are VERY hard to read. After many minutes with a magnifying glass I've finally determined that those words say "CAUTION - READ INSTRUCTION BOOK BEFORE USING". You'd think that something as important as that would be displayed in a more prominent place - and LEGIBLY - but nooooo. It makes me wonder if I need to examine every inch of the rest of my blender just in case there's other important information waiting to be discovered. Not just now, though. Saturday night is the night I set aside for looking for important information hidden on the sides of my pencils. (What do YOU do for fun on Saturday nights?)

One perfectly round lens of my rose-tinted sunglasses. About 2" in diameter. The world certainly looks weird when I'm wearing those glasses. But the world looks even weirder when I'm *not* wearing them. I wonder what kind of glasses I need to wear in order for things to appear normal. Anybody know?? Manhole cover that I discovered at a local park. Has 50 raised bumps divided into two sets of 25 by a center gap. There's a small opening at the left where a special rod can be inserted and the cover lifted and removed. The words "MADE IN USA" appear in the middle of the lower half. I don't own this cover, but I'm told I could buy one rather like it for about $400. Apparently it's a fairly standardized cast iron product - 22.75" in diameter, 1.75" thick, and about 200 pounds. I have to admit that I've never thought about owning one of these, but now that I know that I can I'm rather intrigued by the idea. One never knows when a deep hole measuring 22.75" in diameter might open up in one's own home or yard, does one? The way things are going, perhaps I should order two! (I can always give them to Goodwill if I end up not needing them - right?)

Blue player's "HOME" spot (2.5" in diameter) as it appears on the "SORRY!" game board. The game board I have was made by Parker Brothers and bears a copyright date of 1950. The game is much older than that, however, as Wikipedia tells me that it was actually created by William Henry Storey in England in 1929. (It looks like Hasbro continues to sell it to this day.) I played it as a child but I don't recall it being very much fun. It is even less fun now that I've lost the pieces and the cards that go with it. To rectify that, I am considering using the chess pieces and some old birthday cards that I *do* have to create a new version. Could there also be a role for the little green houses from "Monopoly" as well? Perhaps! I guess it all depends on how many Benadryl tablets I pop before I get started....

One more piece from the ceiling fan I took down last November. Had I known how many round things it contained, I would have taken it down and savored them, one by one, years ago! This piece was just above the blades and under the motor. White, metal, 11" in diameter - and blessed with 4 screw holes and exactly 60 slits. I'm trying to think of some way to repurpose it. Door knocker? Picture frame? Fancy skirt for a stuffed animal? I dunno. I might just have to leave it in front of someone's door, ring the bell, and run. (That seems to work fairly well in the summer with the garden zucchinis that threaten to take over the back yard. But it's easier to lift fingerprints off of metal, isn't it? Hmmmm . . . . )

Heavy blue-green ceramic pendant that was on the bottom of one of the pull chains on the dining room ceiling fan I took down last November. It has now been relocated to a pull chain that controls the ceiling light in a closet. About 1" in diameter. There's no question about that. The real question is, "Did I relocate it to the right closet?" I chose the master bedroom closet but I often wonder if the guest bedroom closet or the office closet might have been the better choice. There are a lot of home decorators and remodeling experts in my area, but none have responded to my phone messages and texts. I guess they're all too busy with their $20,000 bathroom gut-jobs and $30,000 kitchen make-overs to bother with a simple pull chain pendant question. Fine. I'll just rotate the thing from one closet to another every four months over the course of the year and hope that the Feng Shui gods aren't *too* offended....
