Lightcurves from all ASKAP, ATCA, and MeerKAT radio observations phase-folded to the radio period of 2147.27 s. Green shading indicates the range of uncertainty in predicted pulse time around the expected pulse phase of 0.5. Pulses are only detected in the ASKAP and ATCA observations between 2025-01-09 and 2025-01-17.
New LPT who dis? #radioastro
We've found a new long-period radio transient to add to the small but growing population! π‘ππ§ͺ
In a recently accepted @pasajournal.bsky.social Letter, Joshua Pritchard details the bursts detected from this system during a brief active period.

New X-GAP paper on arXiv led by Ramananda Santra (NCRA-TIFR), studying old AGN plasma in galaxy groups with uGMRT, LOFAR & XMM-Newton.
Found beautifully messy radio morphologies, showing the important role that group environment plays in the AGN feedback process.

Li et al. monitored a repeating fast radio burst (FRB). They identify a transient excursion of its rotation measure (RM), which increases by orders of magnitude for 2 weeks. Possible causes include a coronal mass ejection from a binary companion star. βοΈ #radioastro

What a cool concept!!!
Here's the paper: #radioastro #galactic
A screenshot of their figure 2, showing the position of the pulsar (red star on the right-hand side of the cluster) and the cluster itself (black circles.)
An interesting #radioastro paper came out last week that reports a possible pulsar in a #galactic open cluster - the first ever! It would be very cool if true.
The pulsar appears on the outskirts of the massive, old cluster NGC 6791. Its distance error is too high to know if it's certainly a member
This Hubble image features the complex loops and blobs of cosmic dust hidden in the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 1316. The dust lanes and star clusters within it give evidence that it was formed from a past merger of two gas-rich galaxies.
