Looking down on my friend from the second floor. The first flight was the worst, as they were the original stone steps. We took it in turns to go up higher, as it would've meant carrying our bags again, and we had learnt our lesson by then! 😁

The photo shows a mostly black seabird, perched on top of a red, metal navigational marker in the middle of a body of blue water. The water has small ripples on its surface, and the sun is reflecting off of it, creating a bright, slightly shimmering effect. The channel marker is rusted and weathered, showing its age. The bird is facing to the left and the reflection of the marker is visible in the water directly beneath it. The overall impression is one of a calm, peaceful day at the coast.

What remains of St Mary's Church, Reculver, on a sunny autumn afternoon. The sky is a clear blue, with some fair-weather clouds in the distance. The church dates from the 7th century and is a popular Kent landmark.

A view from inside the seaward tower. Margate, Isle of Thanet (at least, it used to be an island) can just about be made out on the distant horizon. The area between the darker green fields and the horizon used to be a strait, but has long since silted up. Roman galleys and Viking longships used to sail it! 🤯🙂
