In front of a white painted brick wall, on a large rock is a shiny brown ‘wig head’ (head shape) wearing a black hat. The hat is made of cellophane and dates from middle last century - plaited shiny & patterned cellophane so lots of nice textures. Here we look down slightly at the centre front - the crown is a plain dome, the large brim of the hat is folded up over the wearer’s left eye - some mostly Matt black trim (it’s lace and braid ) emerges from a hole in the brim and curls off to the side. I would like to think that curl is rather elegant 😉
Here we are looking down - in close up - on a black hat - it is In front of a white painted brick wall, red brick garden pavers underneath. We can just see the shiny nose of the brown ‘wig head’ (head shape) under the hat. The hat is made of cellophane and dates from middle last century - plaited shiny & patterned cellophane so lots of nice textures. The large brim of the hat is turned up at the front & at the back (not evenly though - it’s quite organic) and here we see the trim at the side going round the crown … There is black lace, black braid with little sequins on the edge and a bit of black satin ribbon - just because I had it in the stash (and I knew that 3inch bit of ribbon would be useful one day!) A not-too-casual but definitely not serious hat with a lot of textures.
Renovated my old ‘Witch’s Hat’ - it still looks witchy but perhaps she’s a more prosperous witch these days. It’s a vintage cellophane capeline - floppy brim turned up and stitched there in 2 places - black trims from my stash. #millinery #hatmaking #recyle #upcycle

Two cloth serviettes made from a tye died t-shirt in pink, yellow, and blue sits on a deep-coloured wooden table. One has straight lines done in running stitch with pink, yellow, and green thread, and is outlined at the edge with blue thread, which all form large squares divided by two lines to make each square have four triangles inside. The other one has double curved lines that cross each other and sway back and forth, done in the same colours of thread.
These are the two face and hand cloths that I made (and decorated with #sashiko) from an old, worn out t-shirt that my kid used to wear.
We use cloth instead of paper towels to wipe our hands when we eat, and these are now really pretty. 🥰

Strip of fabric with a seam on both sides. The wedge ruler is matched up to the seam on the right side. The top fabric is light beige, the fabric underneath is orange. A cut has been made in the strip, around the ruler, but not squared up. This will happen once the seams have been pressed open. Another accurate wedge cut will be made.
The fabric strip has been pressed open. The orange fabric is on the right, and the beige fabric is on the left. The wedge ruler is on top, and the half way mark is on the seam.
Several piles of two colour wedges. Different shades of orange and brown, and the lighter creams, whites, and beige.
Turns out, that it is important to have the same side up, when cutting the wedges. Sometimes the light side was up, and other times the dark side would be up. I have an uneven amount of more darks to the right side. Will need to sew some more strips, & do more cutting.
