Photo of a Tumbling Tom Cherry tomato plant. It is planted in a white plastic bucket filled with soil, which is surrounded by a netting fence to keep birds and deer away from the plants. There are 13 tomatoes visible from this angle growing on the plant, they aren't ripe yet, so are very green, but healthy. Leaves are healthy and dark green in colour. On the right side of the bucket there is a plastic tube sticking out of the soil. This is a watering tube which extends down to the bottom of the bucket. There are small loose stones between the inside bottom of the bucket and the soil. Once water is added through the tube, it wicks up into the soil and root system of the plant. We find we're adding a little water every couple days, or so. This method provides a more efficient way to water a plant and avoid evaporation.

Air quality today was crap, but got out to do some light yard and garden work. The red potatoes we planted are blooming nicely and the Tumblin Tom cherry tomatoes are doing well, too.

Accidentally left a red potato in the ground last year and it came back for a surprise encore. Dug it up barehanded because, of course, my gloves were not where I thought they were. Now I’ve got dirt under my nails and a smile on my face.
