Unfortunately, it is rumored that Joe Lynch has disowned this film, due to the fact it was delayed and re-edited by IndieVest. Many fans campaign for a release of Lynch's original cut with the hashtag #ReleaseTheLynchCut

I believe that David Lynch’s original, unedited cut of Dune still exists. The studios don’t want to release it because they are scared of us. They fear our collective power. #releasethelynchcut

Legend, had a director’s cut. There is no excuse for David Lynch’s Dune not to have a director’s cut!!!
( Well, there is. Restoring Lynch’s version would be a huge undertaking, but why let facts get in the way of my outrage)
