Four photographs of the same box in different stages of being opened stiched together. The box is rectangular with an arched top so it looks like a small chest. The outside is painted black with a gold border on it. The inside has been painted red. Left to right and top to bottom: the first photo shows the box closed. In the second, it is open, showing the inside and a red fabric bundle with gold ribbons sitting inside. The third photo shows the box at the same angle, but the red bundle has been pulled out of ht ebox and is shown to be a small pouch holding a pile of wooden cards, each painted black with a thick gold border. The final photo shows the box open, with the pouch off to one side. The cards have bene pulled out of the pouch, and are in two piles - one with them face down, showing the black and gold backs, the other a small fan of cards, showing that they are black with a more delicate gold border on the fronts. Each card has a different symbol painted mostly in white, like a reverse silhouette. The symbols that are visible are an open book and a mask - the other symbols are too obscured to parse. Each of the photos is against the same blue fabric backdrop.
Six photographs of playing cards stitched together to form three long rows. All of the cards are black with a delicate gold border. In the centre of each card is a white shape, like a reverse silhouette. Some of the shapes also have spots of colour. Left to right, the cards on the top row are: A snake; a jellyfish; a horned skull and a potion bottle with red liquid; a magnifying glass; a fancy cake with red berries on it; a hand held out in friendship; a hand giving the middle finger; a hand with a bandage around it; and a hand with crossed fingers. The middle row: a podium; a baby with green scales bundled in blankets; a person with golden skin having their head stepped on; a tiara with blue gems; a sceptre; a steaming mug; a torn piece of paper with indistinct markings; a tree with wide green branches and extensive roots; a goblet with blue gems; and an egg with mottled brown patterning. The bottom row: an open book with a brown cover; a question mark with a green gem for the dot; a broken crumbling heart; an intricate golden mask; a pink brain; a red hexagon with a slit-pupiled eye on it; a word in greek ("hyperion"); crossed keys, one in gold, the other in white; comedy and tragedy masks; and a rock. All of the cards are laid against a dark blue fabric backdrop.
#repostyourart - Day 22 - Paint
Here's something I made for a LARP system back in 2019 - they just asked for the cards, but I decided to do them out of balsa wood instead of paper, and then decided they needed a cool box just for fun. Painted with acrylics and then varnished so that they'd hold up.
