By request for #AskEditor, I made pie charts of my annual contest submissions. During my first year as a #RevPit editor in 2020, I posted the very first #RevPie charts. My pie charts are from Word and not as fancy as some editors, but here goes:
I will need more #revpie to document these duals.
When I start thinking too much about how much of every #RevPie is adult fantasy
#revpit #revpitwaiting
A pie chart showing half fantasy, a little more than a third mystery/thriller, and smaller slices for horror, contemporary, science fiction, and historical.
And here is my #RevPie for genres in my submissions. Not surprised to see so much fantasy, but I got a nice slice of thriller/mystery with a light serving of horror, contemporary, science fiction, and historical. @reviseresub.bsky.social #RevPit #RevPitWaiting #RevPitTeaser ππ
A pie chart showing a little more than half for YA, about a third for adult, and about a fifth for MG.
Hey, Team Amethyst, here is some delish #RevPie for the age category breakdown in my submissions. The YA authors really delivered this year, huh? But I got nice slices of adult and MG, too. @reviseresub.bsky.social #RevPit #RevPitWaiting #RevPitTeaser ππ
A pie chart displaying the breakdown of RevPit manuscript submissions to Raquel Brown. The submission percentages are 66% Fantasy and Romantasy, 21% Science Fiction, 12% Horror, and 1% General Literary Fiction.
And of course I brought some #RevPie! (Or do you think this is more of a #RevDonut? π©)
Additional sub stats:
π Adult β 65%
π YA β 35%
#RevPitTeasers
Pie chart showing the horror subgenres of 2025 RevPit submissions received by Allison Alexander. Fantasy: 29%; Mystery 12%; Supernatural 24%; Sci-Fi 6%; Contemporary 6%; Paranormal 24%
My final #RevPie β the horror subgenres/genre mashups of submissions I received! #RevPit #RevPitWaiting
#RevPit 2025 Subs Breakdown by Genre Pie Chart Fantasy β 29% Sci-Fi/Spec β 7% Romance β 28% Horror β 6% Mystery/Thriller (M/T) β 19% Contemporary β 8% Book Club/Womenβs Fiction β 2%
#RevPit 2025 Subs Breakdown by Age Group Pie Chart Young Adult β 33% Adult β 67%
I know some of the other #RevPit editors are doing #RevPitWaiting and #RevPitTeaser posts, but just like some of you get anxious about reading them, I get anxious writing them π
, so itβs unlikely Iβll have any of my own to share. Weβll see how it goes!
Please have a couple of #RevPie instead:
pie chart showing romance, mystery, sci-fi, book club, fantasy, historical, and contemporary in that order, but pretty similar sized slices
I also meant to add #RevPitTeaser my chart for the genres in my submissions.
It was a good mix of the genres I was taking, and the historicals are really showing up with good game, lots of fun time periods.
You could almost play Trivial Pursuit with this #RevPie chart!
A pie chart showing the subgenre breakdown of sci-fi submissions received by Allison Alexander in 2025. General SF: 22%; Space Opera: 14%; Dystopian / Apocalyptic: 14%; Science Fantasy: 12%; Eco-Fiction: 10%; Thriller: 6%; Mystery: 6%; AI/Robots: 6%; Comedic: 4%; Other: 6%
And here is the subgenre breakdown of the sci-fi subs I received! #RevPit #RevPie
A pie chart that breaks down the fantasy subgenres of 2025 RevPit submissions sent to editor Allison Alexander: Adventure 21%; Dark/Horror 14%; Epic 8%; Fairy Tale 5%; Mystery 11%; Mythological 6%; Science Fantasy 8%; Other 6%; Contemporary/Urban 21%.
More #RevPie, anyone? Here is the subgenre breakdown of the fantasy submissions I received! #RevPit #RevPitTeasers
It's been about an hour, so I'm wrapping up this thread! Thank you to everyone who was able to drop by. I hope my responses were helpful. I enjoyed chatting with you all!
Hopefully, I'll get those #RevPie charts up at some point lol.
#RevPit #AskEditor
It's time for my #AskEditor session! I'll be hanging around for an hour to answer your Qs, just drop them below!
@reviseresub.bsky.social #RevPit
(Sorry for the late drop, I tried to share a couple of #RevPie charts but Bsky wasn't helping lol)
And I also wanted to join the fun of making my own #RevPie, the only pie I'm really capable of making, if we're being honest. I received a really nice spread this year, so thank you for that! That little one that doesn't have a label is Science Fiction/Spec.
#revpit #writingcommunity #askeditor
Thanks for sharing your #RevPie, Allison!
6% Horror fam represent!
We're small, but spooky!
#RevPit #RevPitWaiting #RevPie
It's #RevPie time! π I'll also be posting some of my personal submission stats tomorrow, in case anyone's curious. #RevPit #RevPitWaiting
#RevPie π Brilliant.
Thank you @miranda-darrow.bsky.social for creating these helpful #RevPit 2025 submission #RevPie charts for #PiDay! #MiddleGrade fiction isnβt on my MSWL, but if you have a completed MG MS and youβre ready to work with an editor, please consider submitting!

#RevPie wonders where all the #MiddleGradeAuthors are?
Come share your #MGStories with me

And a #RevPit #RevPie chart with the genres (in big categories) of the submissions so far.

What #RevPit submissions have rolled in so far?
In honor of #PiDay I've got a few pie charts.
So, in the long-standing tradition of #RevPie charts, here are the age category and genre submission by proportion received as of this morning.
Where are our #MiddleGrade #amwriting #amquerying authors?
