A small, light-green bungalow sits partially hidden behind leafy tree branches in a shaded yard. The house has a bright red front door and red-trimmed windows, one covered with white security bars. A modest front porch holds eclectic chairs (one of which has a hair dryer hood over it), potted plants, and a small table. To the right of the porch stands a vintage Coca-Cola vending machine, and a colorful striped fence panel leans nearby. The yard is enclosed by a low wire fence, with patchy grass and a dirt path leading up to the steps.
One of my favorite East Austin houses that has maintained that Old Austin feel.

The building doesn’t ask to be remembered. It simply refuses to disappear — brick by stubborn brick, rising against a sky that has long since moved on. Windows open to nothing. A ghost sign bleeds through the mortar, half a word, half a memory. Whatever commerce once hummed behind these walls has been swallowed whole, leaving only the architecture of absence.
