An old gnarly tree. Its trunk diverged and then rejoined at some point, leaving a huge hole in the trunk.

My only previous view of a wild otter in the UK, was a ten second glimpse from 500m away. This morning, two otters, twenty feet away, for almost five minutes. Absolutely incredible. And a good sign for the health of the river - in flood here hence the colour.
