The way the crowd —society-destroys this (messiah metaphor) being, who actually is somehow able to see and act and fully live through the lens of love, as humans ought to... It made me bawl!!! In eighth grade. Then I reread it years later... n was disgusted by the unimaginative n persistent use of sexism throughout.
