Final #wader survey of the season in #Roeburndale @forestofbowland was a good un. Curlew nest from last survey looks to have successfully hatched & adults alarming nearby, #Lapwing & #Oystercatcher behaviour indicating they have chicks too. No doubt about the #Snipe chick! 😍
Second breeding #wader survey of the spring in #Roeburndale @forestofbowland this morning. Good numbers of drumming #Snipe, 2 pair of #Curlew including a nest, several #Oystercatchers and plenty of #Lapwing including some chunky chicks.
Lovely morning for a wader survey in #Roeburndale @forestofbowland. Challenging conditions for breeding #waders so far. Extremely dry and very slow vegetation growth. This #Curlew nest is a bit exposed to say the least. Farmer informed of its location. 🤞
