(Book review) >Light Read with Light Substance< I've struggled a little with the rating. This is entertaining with some terrific heat, but it didn't really grab me. I may come back and up it later, but here's where I am at the moment. There are some things I really like: Senna Duncan usually holding her head high in the face of adversity; Benjamin "Benno" Adler acknowledging how they initially "met" without making her feel bad; Chase Baldwyn putting an interesting solution to their shared attraction out there; and James "Jamie" Carter's planning ahead for different possibilities is something that I truly appreciate. -- Book quote 'I was kissing my French professor. Or whatever he was. And I’d just been with my English and math professors. I’d known college was going to be different, but I sure as hell hadn’t anticipated anything like this.' -- Senna Duncan As for the bullies, not only do I love the quips that Senna shoots at them, but I like the disposition of the situations. Truly, she gets some real zingers in there. 😁 I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Alex Kydd and Rose Dioro, are two narrators that are on my definitely like list. 😘 I just came from another of Rose's books, so it took me a few to switch gears and forget that book and character. Story: 3.5 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x

(Book review) >Uncovering the Past< 4.5 stars - Lara Bennit and Tate Vickers are hot like lightning with a crazy start to this new series. While I love the whole book, I have to admit to loving the sound off with "Casper." It was like visiting old friends as they talked about their parents, some of which make a guest appearance. I love the connection between Tate and Lara. I also love how he is willing to step aside when he believes another is interested. It really speaks to his character, even if he should ask instead of assume. The secrets that are revealed really do tear things up, but they also give Lara some long overdue answers. I like the small steps forward she makes once the cards are on the table. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are none other than Rose Dioro and Troy Duran. It's really no surprise that I like them. πŸ˜‰ Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.5x, 1.8x for second listen. >UPDATED 7/2025:< I honestly don't have anything to add. I accidentally borrowed this from my library, even though I own it, and decided to listen to it again. It's a wonderful series that I'll likely revisit in its entirety soon enough. 😘

The tease at the beginning with them hitched was interesting, but it's exactly that as this ends with a cliffhanger. (It's book one of a trilogy.) -- Book quote 'My gaze has drifted to the woman who just entered the room. My eyes roam every part of her, but not her face. Never again her face. That angelic face has tortured my dreams and toyed with my sanity, and tonight, she chose red.' -- Enzo Ares D’Angelo Now, I need book two (and three). The push, pull, and overall chemistry between Kennedy Mullvain (Luciano) and Enzo D’Angelo is captivating. The way things end is just... ARGH! I read and listened to the audio book.
