Surrounding #Rosman are 100s of gorgeous #waterfalls, Hectares of protected forest and wilderness, #camping, #hiking, excellent fly fishing spots and water rapids or tubing avenues. It’s truly a beautiful spot on earth. Sadly, it also exists on the lower end of a region of income inequality.
The other two tributaries that make up the #headwaters of the French Broad River, the same one that passes through #Asheville to the north, all converge at #Rosman. As a results, the little town is highly prone to major #flooding, where the water levels can go from 2 to 4 feet to 14 in a few hours.
The area around #Rosman receives an average #rainfall total of almost 60 inches, one of the highest amounts east of the #Cascades. It sits at an elevation of 2205ft. 11 miles away, sits the #DevilsCourthouse, at 5720 ft. One fork of the French Broad begins near there. www.google.com/search?gs_ss...
