A monon chrome image showing Bawley Bay, Gravesend; on the south bank of the River Thames. The river is at low tide; a sailing barge, Cambria, is moored just beyond the mud and a little down river are the pontoons of the Royal Terrace Pier, the end of which is shown on the right of the image. The Pier is used by the Port of London Authority and a number of its fleet of boats are moored at the pontoons. On the horizon, in the middle of the image, is a tug. Taken using a Samsung NX100 and Samsung 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 ED.

Gravesend's Royal Terrace Pier, largely in silhouette, and its pontoon, with boats from the Port Of London Authority (PLA) fleet. The PLA Has its headquarters in Gravesend and the pier is attached to the rear of the HQ building. A pontoon is attached to the pier and various launches can be seen there: the Pilot cutters, Harbour Master launches, survey boats and more. The pier, pontoon and boats are mostly in silhouette with the River Thames at low tide and the sun reflecting off the water. The sky is grey but there is a break in the cloud. In addition to the Royal Terrace Pier used by the PLA there is a public pier, the Town Pier, a short distance up river. Carrying on up river is the last remnant of Gravesend West, a railway station, which may or may not be a third pier...
