Jails and tickets won't end homelessness.
It ends with housing.
It ends with supportive services.
It ends with outreach.

That’s what SB 634 is about. #SB634 @CAGovernor @CalMatters

CPDA is supporting #SB634, a bill that would stop local + state governments from charging the homeless and/or those helping them w/civil or criminal penalties.

Some CA cities and counties are working to address homelessness with housing, outreach, case management and medical care. Others would make it ILLEGAL and criminally punish Good Samaritans. #SB634 by Senator Perez would KEEP CARE LEGAL all of California! calmatters.org/commentary/2...

#SB634 is a bill that would prevent California cities from criminalizing helping our homeless neighbors survive. Sadly, it's needed, because Fremont and El Cajon have been doing just that, and the practice could spread. Tell your Assembly member to support SB634!

Current penalties such as jail time, fines, and fees on individuals for a problem created by public policy is cruel and makes homelessness harder to solve when people are given further financial burdens.
