#NASA is asking us to reduce #SDO (and JSOC) funding by 50% over 3 years in our senior review (also reflected in the FY27 PBR), but the #FY27 #pbr proposes 100% cuts to SDAC and other Helio archives.

WHO WILL HOST THE 25+ PETABYTES OF SDO DATA???

What’s the actual daily dose for astronauts (inside vs outside spacecraft, excluding solar events)?

And how much comes from primary charged particles vs secondary radiation generated in the structure?

HF #Propagation Report (SA-MO) - Earth remains initially affected by a high-speed solar wind stream (HSS) and CMEs. Small chance of stormy intervals. Solar activity is moderate; further M‑flares are likely (M 55% X 15% Proton 15%). HF conditions are expected to recover. #spaceweather #hamradio #hamr

#solarstorm update - an interplanetary shock (likely associated with the Apr 1 CME) has arrived at L1 with a speed of ~800 km/s. The total magnetic field remains <15 nT, and Dst shows no significant response so far.

We'll continue to monitor and provide updates if conditions change 🌤️ #SpaceWeather

893-DarkSky Oregon Artificial light at night also known as light pollution is degrading human safety and health as well as damaging the natural environment on which we all depend. The loss of the connection with the natural night sky has happened over the past 100 years. Restoring the natural night sky is relatively simple and can even save money. Before restoration can effectively begin it is essential to make night sky brightness measurements in both natural night sky and urban locations.

Earth is now in the influence of the very fast solar wind from a coronal hole. The solar wind speed is exceeding 800km/s.

The IMF Bz has swung south to ~ -10nT, causing G1 geomagnetic storm conditions. Aurora is being reported at high latitudes.

#solarstorm alert - another large partial halo CME was observed on Apr 1 (~23:45 UTC), following a C-class flare. The ejecta is directed mostly northwest, so no direct hit is expected. Our ELEvo model predicts a possible flank encounter tonight (Apr 3) around 23:00 UTC. 🌤️ #SpaceWeather

𝑮7𝑰𝙕𝑼 𝑹𝙍𝑫 (@g7izu@universeodon.com) Attached: 1 video Space Weather A small eruption from AR4403 at 22h20 UT 01 March caused this small flare and CME. An even smaller eruption from AR4407 to the east is also visible in this video from NASA/SDO AIA304. Neither flare exceeded C5.8. A type II radio emission was detected, confirming a CME that went northwards. Meanwhile at Earth, we're still in the ragged edge of the previous CME which started affecting us yesterday. Geomagnetic conditions have fluctuated overnight with brief G1-G2 conditions being observed. Minor aurora was observed at higher latitudes. Further storming is possible today. A G1 watch continues for today and tomorrow. #spaceweather #aurora #g7izu
