𝑮7𝑰𝙕𝑼 𝑹𝙍𝑫 (@g7izu@universeodon.com) Attached: 1 video Space Weather A small eruption from AR4403 at 22h20 UT 01 March caused this small flare and CME. An even smaller eruption from AR4407 to the east is also visible in this video from NASA/SDO AIA304. Neither flare exceeded C5.8. A type II radio emission was detected, confirming a CME that went northwards. Meanwhile at Earth, we're still in the ragged edge of the previous CME which started affecting us yesterday. Geomagnetic conditions have fluctuated overnight with brief G1-G2 conditions being observed. Minor aurora was observed at higher latitudes. Further storming is possible today. The yellow lines denote 10m contacts. As you can see, there's not much going on above the 10m band at the time of the recording. All the lower bands have been supressed so as to make 10m clearer. The number of hops any particular signal path makes is estimated and not real, but is based upon real factors such as ionosphere height, propagation mode and the MUF. Different frequencies reach different heights, as future videos will show. #radiopropagation #amateurradio #g7izu

This 3D fly-through was created using a new mapping backend for G7RAU's Live MUF that I created. It runs in a web browser is is under test. Similar to the maps on my website, line colour indicates frequency. The coloured blobs show areas of high MUF (sporadic-E clouds). Purple is showing Band 2 FM reception via sporadic-E, yellow is the 10m band. As new spots appear, you see the lines propagating between ground and ionosphere as they bounce around the world. #radiopropagation #amateurradio #g7izu

𝑮7𝑰𝙕𝑼 𝑹𝙍𝑫 (@g7izu@universeodon.com) Attached: 1 video Radio Propagation I made a thing! With the help of Claude AI, I made a new mapping backend for LiveMUF. The entire thing — 3D WebGL renderer, ionospheric physics, signal animation, Es detection, MUF modelling, band matrix, 2D map, live database connection — fits in a single HTML file of about 3,000 lines. No npm, no webpack, no dependencies beyond D3 and TopoJSON loaded from a CDN. A helper file interfaces with the LiveMUF SQLite database and forwards spots to the map as they appear. I'll need to work on a version for MySQL. It currently only runs on a PC which already has LiveMUF installed and capturing spots to a local database. It renders propagation paths in realtime, projecting the signal path via realistic estimated bounce points around the globe. Ionospheric height is correctly rendered. Glowing areas appear at the reflection points and show sporadic-E clouds, coloured according to frequency (but not yet directly linked to the estimated MUF). I'll follow up with more videos. #radiopropagation #g7izu

𝑮7𝑰𝙕𝑼 𝑹𝙍𝑫 (@g7izu@universeodon.com) Attached: 1 video Terrestrial Weather (comment) A reminder that long-range weather forecasts are notoriously inaccurate! Looking at just a single weather model output and stating as fact that this will be the outcome in 10 days' time is highly misleading. Certain "tabloid" publishers in the UK (you know who I mean) will week after week will try to tell you that the worst snowmaggeddon in centuries is about to happen in your neighbourhood. In reality, even forecasts 2-3 days ahead can be wildly wrong. If the "ensemble" of weather models run on supercomputers which provide their outputs every few hours tend to agree on a scenario, then forecasters will be confident. If the ensembles disagree, then there will be low confidence. So with all this in mind, the current model runs for the UK are showing some fairly wild disagreements on air pressure in the next two weeks, although a wet and windy regime is more likely than not. ECMWF (the European model) is predicting a deep low pressure area crossing the UK on around 13 Dec. The other models do not predict it, so it's very unlikely to occur. The same model run tomorrow may not predict it at all. Whatever happens, it looks pretty impressive on the chart! #weather #ecmwf #g7izu
