Appreciate the critical scholarship on the regulatory system that is occupational licensure for social work unfold in the last few years. Saw a really good session at @sswrorg.bsky.social #SSWR2025 last year. @profmattdecarlo.bsky.social was in it, causing good trouble. Check out this special issue.
I reiterate that one of the best & most meaningful presentations at #SSWR2025 was this poster. Deep & critical questions about how social work arrived at the present juncture in relation to a global event in G-place (call it a g-word & gets censure, threats, & sanctions).

Beyond #PROUD of my RAs for owning the room and sharing their scholarship at #SSWR2025. The #healthcare, #mentalhealth and #criminallegal systems are failing #Blackwomen. We not only highlighted the gaps, we also recommend culturally responsive solutions.
Back in NYC from #SSWR2025, I'm teaching in #GCDRI, a coding and digital skills boot camp this week run by @cunygcdi.bsky.social. I participated in my first year as a PhD student, and taught in it last year. How nice it is to be a part of this learning community again. #DigitalHumanities #SWTech

Good time at #SSWR2025. On my plane ride home, I watched David Sedaris’ Master Class on writing. Very enjoyable. But if I were an aspiring writer, I would have felt totally deflated.
I can't believe I missed the opportunity for an IRL meet up with y'all. The stickers were a great idea. Hope your #SSWR2025 was excellent. #SSWR2026?
It was great seeing you SJ! I'm sorry I missed @pagingdrjama.bsky.social, but it looks like y'all were rocking it at #SSWR2025.
Followed! Such an important topic. I was one of those on my way to the airport during your talk, but I'm glad to know you're doing the work. #SSWR2025

One of the highlights of #SSWR2025 was @dupatton.bsky.social's talk. Fun fact: As Desmond and I were taking a selfie, @naswsocialworkers.bsky.social's CEO, Anthony Estreet photo bombed. When I was at the NASW Pioneer event in 2023, he did the same thing. I see a pattern :-)
Of course we forgot to get a photo there 😭 Shanna Kattari isn't pictured, but here we have the rest of us round tablers: Emil Smith, Janna Cuneo (medical director of Seattle's LGBTQ Center), Ari Gzesh, and myself. #SSWR2025

A really interesting comment about how "professions are homeostasis producing mechanisms" & social work has an "alphabet soup of professional organizations", leading to the question of how we can amass power within our field of almost 750,000 practitioners (in the US)? #SSWR2025 #SocialWorkSky
