One great thing about #Hematite is if you faceplant on certain parts of Mars, little pieces of hematite are really going to get your attention! I mean, #Sanidine is a volcano-derived sparkle pony (🌋✨❣️), but Hematite makes Mars red and has my heart. #MinCup25

This is clear crystallized potassium sanidine. It's a rectangular block of the substance which could be carved into a gem and it shows the yellow clear nature of the crystals
This is more standard crystalization of sanidine with almost light pink color variation with some greys spotted throughout. It's shape looks like two rectangles one offset at about 30° growing through the other which is vertical
Another rectangular Crystal formation of sanidine this one is on a matrix Rock and it appears light gray with some red and black interspersed along the surface
This is a beautiful gem quality sanidine which is very rare for the substance. I love the almost mother of pearl blue then is along the surface it has a interesting property that almost looks like titanium in this photograph the shape is an oblong rectangle basically it's very difficult to describe the actual shape of this is several cubes or longer squares or rectangles stacked in formation that almost resembles a fist with one finger up and the thumb folded in on the left
#Sanidine is the high temperature form of potassium feldspar. Sanidine is found most typically in felsic volcanic rocks such as obsidian, rhyolite and trachyte.
It rarely forms transparent to translucent feldspar gemstone that’s usually colorless or white but can be yellow or brown.

A sample of hematite, mostly black with some brown spots. It shows layers facing the viewer towards the outer edges.
For the second match in a row, I could only find one contender at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. #sanidine was elusive, however #hematite wasn't too tough to find. I love the layers on this!
