B.98 went into store while the new #ScapaFlowMuseum was built. The team installed it early this year but it badly needed some specialist TLC! After a good conservation clean it needed some further treatment to stabilise corroded areas and get rid of the many rust stains.

Really pleased and excited to see that the #ScapaFlowMuseum is a finalist in @artfund’s #MuseumOfTheYear 2023. Although I only arrived in #Orkney and set up #HBConservation in September 2022, I’ve still been able to make a contribution to this fantastic new museum. #thread

Well this has been an exciting second week working for @OrkneyCouncil at #ScapaFlowMuseum Really good to get these incredibly rare and fragile German guns from the #FWW safely undercover, so we can dry them out and work out a future for them.

Well 1st week @OrkneyCouncil done! Learned loads, made some decisions, met more people than I can remember & LOVED diving right into the exciting #ScapaFlowMuseum redevelopment. Nice to be working with old friends @StudioMBdesign again too! More next week, watch this space ;)
