Comments provided for a peer-reviewed paper. For the author and editor. Three species are reported to be new to Asian Russia when they were previously reported from Crimea. When the species were originally reported from Crimea, the penninsula was either part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1979) or an independent Ukraine (1998). Despite Russia's ongoing illegal occupation of Crimea, the penninsula resides within the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine, not Russia, so these species are newly reported from Russia as a whole, not Asian Russia in particular. For the editor only. As an international journal that is supported by the British Natural History Museum, I think it should be insisted upon that Crimea be recognized as part of Ukraine and not Russia. If the authors disagree with this and do not update the manuscript, then I would like to rescind my review and recommend the paper not be published.
