ICYM the latest #SecularPolitics exploring the #secular vote in 2024 with an analysis of #religion and #race
#atheist #agnostic
The chart breaks down how various racial and religious groups voted for the Democratic Party in 2024, based on AP/NORC Votecast data. The data are categorized by race (White, Black, Latinx, Asian) and further segmented into the three largest religious identity cohorts: Protestant/Other Christian, Catholic, and Secular. Only 28% of White Protestants and 39% of White Catholics voted Democratic. Two-thirds (67%) of White secular voters supported the Democratic Party, highlighting a significant religious divide. More than eight-in-ten Black Protestants (84%), Black Catholics (81%), and Black secular (81%) voters cast their votes for Kamala Harris. Fewer than four-in-ten (39%) Latinx Protestants, most (57%) Latinx Catholics, and seven-in-ten (70%) secular Latinx voters supported Harris. Harris received the votes of 59% of Asian Protestants, 52% of Asian Catholics, and 72% of secular Asian voters.
2/6 #Secular voters show remarkable unity regardless of race. Seculars are the only White group to support Harris. Among #Latinxs, secular voters were her strongest supporters. secularpolitics.us/sp20250509 #SecularPolitics
1/6 This week’s #SecularPolitics newsletter explores the racial diversity of the #secular vote, analyzing major racial cohorts and comparing them to other religion cohorts. Secular voters across all races & Black voters regardless of religion strongly supported Harris. secularpolitics.us/sp20250509

Last week, my latest #SecularPolitics entry was an introduction to understanding the #Secularvote in 2024.
Some of these were discussed during my @atheists.org AACON presentation. The first in the series explores the findings of the AP/NORC VoteCast.

This week's #SecularPolitics is about the giant gap between the people who identify as atheists in the US and the opinions of some of the most prominent atheists on Trans rights. Guys like Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker, and Jerry Coyne do not represent #atheist public opinion
