Granaatzand, goed gesorteerd, matig grof (ca. 220 - 230 micrometer), natuurlijk concentraat, Rinkeweelsdijk, Waddenkust Noordburen - Wieringen, 16-09-2006. Afgezet tijdens een aantal nagenoeg windstille dagen waarin bij hoogwater laag-energetische golfslag met kleine amplitude onder aan de dijk het zand uitspoelde en een band zware mineralen van soms meer dan een centimeter dik achterliet. Roze tot oranje zandkorrels: granaat, zwart: magnetiet en ilmeniet, groengeel: epidoot, kleurloos: kwarts. 'Garnet sand', well sorted, medium coarse (ca. 220 - 230 micrometer), natural concentrate, Rinkeweelsdijk, Waddensea coast at Noordburen on the former isle of Wieringen, the Netherlands, 16-09-2006. Deposited during a couple of almost windless days, on which at high tide low-energy, small amplitude waves washed out the sands near the foot of the dyke, leaving a layer of heavy minerals, at places more than a centimeter thick. Pink to orange sand grains: garnet, black: ilmenite and magnetite, yellow-green: epidote, colourless: quartz.
