I call this part of the #SeductionOfEase
We MUST consider the impacts our actions have on the whole world, not just humans, but every aspect of the planet. We are a destructive species, and have caused more harm to this living world than any other. It is NOT here for us to use it up as we have. π
I blame #Greed and the #SeductionOfEase
I knew we were doomed when someone complained that we did not have "fresh greens". In Winter. In Minnesota. In a Food Co-op. #NoCommonSense #SeductionOfEase
It's all part of the #SeductionOfEase that has contributed to the trouble we are in now.
I published this March of '23 & found it again when I went looking for this photo to write something up with it. It was not written with 2025 in mind, yet here we are. I will be broaching this topic more as we challenge habits we have due to the #SeductionOfEase .π«Ά

An "evil to convenience" is a perfect way to describe the #SeductionOfEase . Please fight them taking hold there. They definitely contributed to our downfall in the U.S.
Don't just #boycott, #cancel. The convenience that trapped us is part of what I consider the #SeductionOfEase
I like that tag too, #SeductionOfEase πΌ
Iβll be thinking about the phrase #SeductionOfEase and pondering what I can do to break habits and support resistance every day.
I exited all Meta as quickly as I could. After 17 years it took way longer than I expected but has been well over a month now. It sure as hell was not convenient but I am intent on dismantling the #SeductionOfEase and have not stopped with Meta. We no longer have the luxury of complacency.
#Resist
If you think this will not be effective, consider this:
People are starting to think about what they buy; who from & if it's necessary. This is important. Until we get to the heart of what we need instead of what we are targeted to buy, we will never break the #SeductionOfEase.
#CommunityNotProfit
The Husk is using the USA as his personal cash cow. We need to get creative about how we stop feeding that cow hay.
Where have you allowed yourself to succumb to the #SeductionOfEase?

We already lived in a surveillance state, with somewhat flimsy illusions that our personal lives & info would remain private. After his minions first assault, the barn doors won't shut again, and as the Husk continues his pillaging that illusion is history. The only viable action I think we can take now is to limit our technological footprints, and that means giving up some things we have grown very accustomed to utilizing. #SeductionOfEase

Not to negate your concern, but to reassure you, there are ways to work around both things. First we all need to consider what is truly necessary for us (as individuals & as a species/community, and I include Art & Music as necessary.) This means considering the implications of the #SeductionOfEase.
You know what's reassuring to me? Things like when the timer is going off in the kitchen while I'm in the bathroom and I yell, "turn timer off!" that nothing happens. π

I live in a Tiny House & haul my water in which makes me very aware of "enoughness". I may not be able to do as much radically as I long to so I deeply appreciate reminders like this that how I live IS radical. My way to address the #SeductionOfEase (And I also need to add this book to my Library.)
TMW you want to post how freeing and satisfying it was to hit the delete button on all things META last midnight and you go to do that on FB. That's what 17 years of habit will get you. π€£
Honestly it's a damn relief and sure was a sign of the #SeductionOfEase
I slept like a log ya'all. π
Full quote from "Minding the Earth, Mending the World: Zen and the Art of Planetary Crisis" by Murphy, Susan (Chapter 1) ISBN: 9781619023048 / 1619023040 βWe live walled off from the earth as far as possible, though we will pay a high price for views of water or mountains. Many of us would by now find it unnatural to lie down to sleep on the earth, gather and cook food where we are, drink water from a creek, defecate in a hole dug in the ground. Our airconditioned, plugged-in level of material comfort estranges us from the earth and even from the sense of what is natural.β

White text on stylized background reminiscent of forests in brown and green reads: βI used to think the top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse & climate change. I though that with 30 years of science we could address those problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathyβ¦ and to deal with those we need a spiritual & cultural transformation - and we scientists don't know how to do that.β - Gus Speth Bottom of image reads "Live Learn Evolve". We have to Think a new way; Be a new way; Interact a new way. We have to let all this horrible crack our shells of complacency and arrogance, along with our addiction to the #SeductionOfEase . If we don't we don't take just humans down with us.
