A striking vintage 1970s original acrylic on canvas primitivist pop art tribal oceanic Face artwork by Lucille. I purchased this painting and another larger by the same artist at a local estate sale, but unfortunately no information about the artist was available, and I haven't been able to find anything online so far. No doubt inspired by an original artwork featured in "Oceanic Art" (1970) by Alberto Cesare Ambesi which was on the cover of the book, and shown inside as well with the following caption:

"16 Picture on palm bracts sewn together and painted. From Kambrambo, lower Sepik area, New Guinea. Museum für Völkerkunde, Basle."

This original artwork is unframed and measures 28" tall by 22" wide by about 1" deep. A striking image, and entirely painted by hand on canvas! This artwork is unsigned, but is by the same hand as the other I have for sale which is signed "Lucille". Excellent vintage condition.
