Started this dress during March to "March through my stash" but finished it this month and since I got to #reuse thrifted curtains for this project figured I would share the final results for #SewskyEarthMonthChallenge 🪻✂️🪡🧵🪻

How did #SewskyEarthMonthChallenge go for you? What was your favourite activity or project? What was your greatest learning?
For me, I loved seeing all the #upcycle and #recycle projects! And I’m going to try to dedicate more time to my mending pile rather than let it get the better of me 😂 #sewsky
Last month I did a fabric destash during #MarchThroughYourStash. Today I was able to donate some yardage for other sewists to enjoy at a local deadstock fabric store. Embracing the #recycle theme for #SewskyEarthMonthChallenge and keeping textiles out of the landfill - fabric is not waste! #sewsky
Front view of me wearing the light brown faux suede and red gabardine lining waistcoat with the dress I made on Sunday (see my previous post for details about the dress). The waistcoat has 5 vintage metal buttons on the front and 5 button holes to match them
3/4 view of me wearing the waistcoat with the same dress. I look far behind the horizon on this picture.
Back view of me wearing the waistcoat and dress. We can see a bit the middle seam of the waistcoat (the back is made out of 2 pannels)

For this #Reuse project I decided to upcycle the fabric from a former skirt in order to make the lining of this waistcoat. I added vintage metal buttons to it and a faux suede as outter fabric for this project (that had been in my stash for years!) #sewsky #garmentsewing

Last night, I opted for #Reduce by #sewing a #dress using about 1m30cm of #fabric and that project generated in total only 4 small triangles of fabric "waste"
I also managed to use the negative of the inner skirt half circles to make 2 pockets!

I decided to do a #repair themed activity for #SewSkyEarthMonthChallenge today. I fixed up two sweaters and a tote bag that have all been languishing in my mending pile for far too long. All done in less than half an hour! Avoiding mending takes more time than the actual mending 😂 #sewsky #mending
My second #wavefloattop! This one is made out of a tablecloth I found at the antique store last month. With the pre-finished edges it was a breeze to sew up (except one horrifying incident where some extra fabric got serged).

Cutting a #wavefloattop out of this vintage table cloth for another #sewskyearthmonthchallenge
Lightweight blue top with cream grid lines in front of a sage green wall and an ironing board
My finished #wavefloattop by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. 🌊
I started this project back in January and then took a longggg break when I accidentally sewed the gathers upside down. Those curves are disorienting!
This fabric is a a lightweight thrifted cotton. #sewskyearthmonthchallenge
