The image shows a figure seated on the ground against a red and orange background. The figure has her left knee raised and her right leg relaxed at an angle. I have some how got carried away with her hair and shrunk the rest of her head. I've since attempted to correct that, and I will see tomorrow how well that worked. I like the feet and the modelling of the legs. I feel that the right leg appears slightly disconnected from the hip. But it's all a learning process. I am getting the overall proportions correct, but the individual limbs are sometimes badly proportioned within that.

This is a reclining figure completed in oil paint (titanium white and Paynes grey) against a warm grey background. The life model presents her back to the viewer. In terms of how successful this is. The head could be a tad longer, and the back should be a bit longer too. The upper torso despite its flaws is the best part of the image. The lower half of the body is shortened and squished. I've lengthened the lower legs since. Pushing the ankles off the picture plane. But I'm not sure the image is salvageable. Lots to learn and process.

Less successful works here. I've since tried to correct their proportions.
I'll see tomorrow how well that worked. It's also tidy my studio up day tomorrow. Boo hiss.

A seated female figure in black and white oil paint. She sits crossed legged looking down to the right The background is a warm grey. I'm extremely happy with this piece. It was a 5 minute study. There are still issues that I have with sections of it that dont sit or look natural. However I'm more than proud of how I'm developing and how the legs in this look. On a side note I did attempt a 5 minute portrait. It went very badly wrong. Heh. I'll post my less successful and quicker studies when I get a chance.

A mix of 2 and 5 minute figure studies from 'line of action' a lovely figure drawing site with a number of configurable options. Even at the free level. Win. The image shows 2 standing figures in black and white oil paint on a grey background. The other marks in black around them are difficult to decipher. They are various limbs and torso parts from 2 minute studies. I used these to help work out the consistency of the oil paint. I needed it to flow like ink but to have a thicker consistency to it.

The image shows 3 fairly decent 2 minute figure studies. Again they are rendered in black and white oil paint. Well payees grey and titanium white if I'm being exact. I seem to lose my sense of proportion easily. So I'll need to do a lot of quick studies that focus solely on getting the body angels and proportions. My break time is over and I need to sort laundry yay!

I decided to be brave and take in some oil paints to the life drawing session yesterday. The combination of fumes from the gas heater and my turps/oil medium mix, was intoxicating. Heh.
