Interesting paper in Land Use Policy shows that:
- Agricultural intensification in Laos did not result in land sparing
- Emissions from intensified and expanded agriculture are as high as those from shifting cultivation

It's just crazy how many papers just blatantly call #ShiftingCultivation "unscientific", "outdated", or "backwards" without actually studying why people practice it.

Farmers usually have good reasons for doing what they are doing 🙄
