I was in #Shiretoko NP for discussing science-driven ecosystem restoration. Many ECRs have contributed by collecting data and supporting the project. Nurturing both trees and people is essential for forest restoration, which can only be achieved through sustained long-term efforts.

天気がいいと国後島が見えます。

While other parts of Japan are starting to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage season, up north in Hokkaido’s #Shiretoko Peninsula, the Shiretoko Pass (Utoro to Rausu) is officially closed for winter as of Nov 5, 5:00 PM. 🚗❄️ This scenic route won’t reopen until spring.
