A Morris Dancer in silhouette wearing a top hat decorated with feathers and waving a dancing stick
It's Shropshire Day here in the Shire! What could be a better way to celebrate than with some Border Morris action... The Shropshire Bedlams seen here dancing at the Three Tuns in Bishop's Castle #Shropshire #BorderMorris #ShropshireDay #ClassicMono #EastCoastKin
Our final #ShropshireDay MP is Henry Whitmore, one of several family members to represent the borough of Bridgnorth. He served as a Conservative party whip in the 1850s and 1860s: victoriancommons.wordpress.com/2024/02/26/w...
Continuing with the theme of corruption, we have the Shrewsbury election agent John Frail, whose election bill for the 1841 contest shocked the newly elected MP for the constituency, Benjamin Disraeli: victoriancommons.wordpress.com/2023/08/30/a... #ShropshireDay
For #ShropshireDay we are sharing some of research on MPs connected with Shropshire constituencies in the 19th century. First, we have the Wenlock MP Cecil Weld Forester, who became involved in the murky world of electoral corruption: victoriancommons.wordpress.com/2025/04/30/t...
The footpath known as The Rack. Inset is Elsie Rowson in her postwoman's uniform .
It is #ShropshireDay (Feb 23), so here's the 11-mile postwoman's path at Stiperstones in Shropshire, which Elsie Rowson walked in all weathers until 1970. The picture shows a narrow path known as The Rack. where Elsie would 'lie on the wind' on blustery days. sproson.com/wp-content/u...
Happy Shropshire Day! 🎉
From the rolling hills to the winding River Severn, we think this county is best experienced from the water. Whether you’re canoeing under Montford Bridge or taking in a quiet moment surrounded by nature, there’s nowhere quite like Shropshire. 💛

It’s #ShropshireDay so we've made a new blog post of all our episodes from gorgeous #Shropshire.

A large archaeological trench in a field with archaeologists filling wheelbarrows and buckets with soil
It’s #ShropshireDay, and what better way to celebrate than revisiting the two-week excavation on the Attingham Estate last September, near Wroxeter Roman City in Shropshire.
National Trust archaeologists worked with members of the public and volunteers to dig three trenches and several test pits. 🧵

Happy #ShropshireDay to all who observe 💚🥳
Happy Shropshire Day! I am so proud to share the history and folklore of this county. There's a lot more in store for nearlyknowledgeable this year as we celebrate 6 years (and all will be Shropshire related) 💚

Today is #ShropshireDay so we’re looking back at how we’ve been celebrated by the biggest #magazine in #Shropshire 😍
We thank them for their unrivalled, front page coverage of the Henry House journey 🛣️
Thank you, #ShropshireMagazine. Who knows what the next #article about #HenryHouse might hold?🤞
Towards the end #Shropshireday and just a smidge of inclemency and a reminder it’s a beautiful place even without sun
I just learned it is #ShropshireDay today. Although I have no ties at all to this county, I ADORE it... my very favourite in England 🥰 Here's a lovely Shropshire sheela na gig - this beauty is in Church Stretton, above a Norman doorway of St Laurence's church.
Shropshire Fidget pie with a slice taken out. Has a short crust pastry case and lid, and filling of potatoes, apple, gammon and onion.
To mark #ShropshireDay I cooked up a Shropshire Fidget Pie. @gardeningwitch.bsky.social had second helpings so I think it was OK.
Happy #ShropshireDay!
23rd Feb was originally named in honour of St Milburga, Benedictine abbess of Wenlock, associated with several miracles. Only few hrs apart from one confident miraculous #Shropshire girl’s birthday, who’s been leafleting for @shropslibdems.bsky.social 🔶 since few months old.
OK, so it’s now a grey, chilly and wet evening in #Shropshire - #ShropshireDay and all! - but today’s Hello You Sunday Supplement is still available to bring some warmth and sunshine into your life 🌤️
A circle of low standing stones in an upland field, with hills in the background.
To mark #ShropshireDay, a soothing photo of Mitchell's Fold stone circle. I recall starting to suspect that there might be something in this phenomenology lark, as I watched the sun set plumb into the cleavage of two prominent hills (to the right of this view). #StandingStoneSunday

Happy #snailsnunday 🐌 💕 🐌
Its also #ShropshireDay 🥳 so I'm celebrating with a cup of tea & a biscuit 🤘😆
Ive got a new mystery snail - this one is a Magenta.

Photo from 2019 looking down the river from Clun Bridge in the snow and ice.
A photo of blooming spring flowers.
A photo looking down a single track country lane near Mainstone, with wild spring flowers bordering the edges of the road amongst the new green growth of grass and leaves.
A photo looking towards a row of Hawthorn edging a field, with the spring blossom in full bloom.
It's #ShropshireDay.
I present a chilly scene to start with, a photo taken from Clun Bridge over the river, with snow and ice all around.
Next, some countryside scenes, hopefully looking forward to the better weather this coming spring.
Throughout the Welsh Marches, geese were considered magical birds🪿. And since it is Milbrugas day, the Patron Saint of geese, here is some folklore about an item known as the "Goose Tooth" 💜
