This story was for an hour-long challenge to write or draw a piece for the Hassel and Brassius pairing using the prompt “forgotten song”.
Siebold reminisces about his fling with a painter in his youth.
Hydrangeas through a heart shaped hole in a bench.
Nao-san at Yokoku-ji.
A gorgeous blue hydrangea bush.
Hydrangeas at Yoshimine-dera.
Hydrangea were first introduced to Europe around 1862 by the German naturalist Siebold (フォン・シーボルト 1796-1866).
It is said he selected the flower's scientific name 'Hydrangea Otaksa' in memory of his Japanese mistress Kusumoto Taki (楠本滝/'Otaki-san' お滝).
