🐣🧪🌏🦉 #SnowyPlovers are off to an early start! We've documented 70 nests + the first chicks of the season! In decades of monitoring (we’ve collected plover data since the 1980s), we've only had one nest hatch before April. This year, we had numerous nests with chicks by March 25th–a new record!

#Snowyplovers are one of #Oregon biggest success stories 🙌 Their numbers dropped to as low as 55 in 1993 and 76 in 2003, leading to them being listed as threatened under the fed #EndangeredSpeciesAct. But in 2023, their estimated population was an astounding 433!
