A slice of a typical Austrian summer pastry (actually, more fruit than pastry), thin layer of pastry, covered tightly by quarters plums that are yellow on the inside, bright red right under the skin. A few thyme flowers have been put on the plums after baking. The slice is presented on an old white porcelain plate decorated in crimson with the alphabet and numbers along the rim. I confess I have made that tarte with store-bought pizza dough, was still good. Thankfully, no one had eaten the plums that were in the icebox! (Inspired by "This Is Just to Say" by William Carlos Williams)
