Soren's heavy-armored boots crunched against broken glass and magitek debris as she limped towards a fallen soldier's side, kneeling when she arrived. "He was already cold when I got to him... there was naught I could do," the young Resistance soldier said without looking up, "That charm must've been important. You'd best take it to Conrad." Soren nodded, only half-hearing. The man before her -- she remembered he said they met long ago at Quarrymill. She didn't remember then, and with all the reintroductions around Rhalgr's Reach, she felt the bile rising in her throat. This should not be like this. "I... please, what was his name?" Soren squeezed her eyes shut, head down. She did not want to see the reaction to her pitiful question.
I finally, finally got the words down for one of Soren's most pivotal moments.
