Submitted my joke to Tony Blackburn. Wonder if it'll get read out.
-Doctor, Doctor I can't stop doing impersonations of Jack Douglas
-You're suffering from a bad case of Way Hey Fever

Bobby's Girl is one of the greatest British pop songs of all time.

Every member of The Seekers was a fabulous singer.

Tony Blackburn's constant mention of his roadshow must break BBC advertising rules.
Even if it doesn't, it's really tedious.

We'll Sing in the Sunshine by Gale Garnett is one of the great songs of the 60s. It's still largely undiscovered.
#SoundsOfThe60s
10 and 6 year-old listeners requesting Want Somebody to Love by Jefferson Airplane. I hope they’ve both got guitars. #thekidsarealright #soundsofthe60s
Blimey. Neil Sedaka could nail a melody.
RIP. What a legacy.

Cilla Black AGAIN on #SoundsOfThe60s.
My ancient Austin Allegro made a more pleasant sound when going through the gears compared to Cilla.
I’m surprised soul expert #TonyBlackburn didn’t spot the obvious error in a listener’s ‘joke’ he read out about “Motown weather” on today’s #SoundsOfThe60s.
The ‘punchline’ referred to The Three Degrees, who weren’t actually Motown artists - they recorded on the Philadelphia label.
Even a Cilla Black record on #SoundsOfThe60s isn't enough to dampen the mood.

Excerpts from a Teenage Opera is one of the reasons I support Leeds United.
Beating Chelsea 7 0 in 1967, the crowd adopted the chorus to "Tommy Doc, Tommy Doc. Is it true what mummy said you won't come back?"
Best chant ever at Elland Road.

The top 3 from January 1963 on #SoundsOfThe60s - Elvis, Cliff, Shadows.
The Beatles would explode on the scene in the coming months. What a time to be alive, meant non ironically.
Ditto The Mamas and Papas.
#SoundsOfThe60s
The Seekers could really sing. Not just Judith Graham but every member.

Mrs S didn't know how The Lovin' Spoonful and 10cc got their names.
So much for an convent school education.
#SoundsOfThe60s
Cilla Black going through the gears on Alfie. Like an out of balance bacon slicer.
#SoundsOfThe60s
A bit Northern Soul on #SoundsOfThe60s. Criminally overlooked at the time.
Followed by Cilla Black, who should have been.
If Neil Diamond hadn't bought Barbra Streisand flowers in the first place there wouldn't be a problem.

Cilla Black and, a few minutes later, Dusty Springfield.
From the ridiculous to the sublime.
#SoundsOfThe60s
Wish we could have a warning of an upcoming Cilla Black record.
On a related note, anyone know how to coax a terrified Jack Russell from a conservatory roof?

One big advantage of growing up in a terraced house with old deaf people on either side is we could play our Bush Dansette at max volume.
The sound of I Wanna Hold Your Hand at volume 10 changed my life in 1963.
#SoundsOfThe60s
The person who came up the description of Cilla Black's voice as like the sound of a fire in a pet shop is a genius.

All the better known vocalists who’ve covered ‘Stay With Me Baby’, try as they might, none of them come near Lorraine Ellison’s version. #soundsofthe60s
Suspect I'm in a minority but I reckon My Way is up there with Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody as the worst records ever made.
Pretentious and smug twaddle all of 'em. IMHO
#SoundsOfThe60s
Kids Are Alright - one of those early Who songs where you know their latest drummer was the very thing they needed to go on to greatness. #soundsofthe60s
Few vocalists possess Levi Stubbs’ levels of soulfulness. Vocal made for Motown numbers. #soundsofthe60s
Bobby Gentry on #SoundsOfThe60s.
Rhyming "He'll never phone yer" with "pneumonia" is pure genius.
Wild Thing on #SoundsOfThe60s. Genuinely believe the version by The Goodies is better than the original.
Lulu Boat That I Row. ‘Brighton Beach’ Newcastle/Leeds mod club night staple. 20th anniversary of that night in March. #soundsofthe60s
Hollies Vox AC40 guitar sound. Manchester through and through. That amp passed to Johnny Marr and now passed to Noel Gallagher. Doubt there’ll be another Manc guitar band to pass it on to who could repeatedly chart with it. #soundsofthe60s
