.@daniellesmithab.bsky.social wants a "sovereign Alberta within a united Canada". That's #SovereigntyAssociation by any other name - political independence from Canada, while still retaining economic benefits - a concept from the Parti Quebecois in 1980 that was rejected. Twice.

8/11 Alberta separatists are particularly pleased, hoping Poilievre's new constituency will push him toward "Alberta sovereignty association, outright separatism and 51st statism."

They see opportunity in his geographic repositioning.
