そういえばなんやかんやで第51戦隊…もとい『Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers』に想像以上にのめり込んだので、全ステージ分の三ツ星評価プレイの動画をアップしたりしたのである。1950年代風味なビジュアルが印象的だけど純粋なパターン覚えSTGとしても面白かったぞよ。

やりこみプレイヤー向けの要素ではステージリザルトでのランク評価があるね。最高ランクの★★★は敵を漏らさず撃ち落としつつ、逆に自分はやられないようにしないとだから結構タイヘン！あとは昔ながらのシューティングらしい通しプレイかつ周回アリのモードもあるんだなぁ～！
ステージの重要な場面ではデモシーンが流れるんだけど、なんとこのムービーは映画スタジオの手掛ける実写映像！もちろん内容はモノクロ、撮影技法からも50年代の映画の味わいがそこかしこから感じられる！この部分だけがお目当てでもきっと楽しめること間違いなしだよ！！

ステージは全部で11個、それぞれ映画みたいなサブタイトルが設定されていて、テーマに沿って物語も展開していくんだ。ノーマルモードではこれらをひとつずつ攻略していくことになるよ。クリア済ステージに再挑戦もできるから、お気に入りの場面を繰り返し見るのもアリ！
プレイヤーが操縦するのは飛行機だったり宇宙船だったり。ステージによって機体と性能が変化するから、各機体の特色を生かすんだ！これ以外にも合計スコアで随時アンロックされるカスタマイズもある。ステージによって適切なカスタマイズで挑むのがクリア&ハイスコアのカギだね。

レトロな映画っていいよね。便利なアレコレが使えなかった、手探りでなんでもかんでも放り込んでいた時代だったからこそ出た力強い味わいは今見直しても大迫力で見入っちゃうよ。さて今週紹介するのは『第51戦隊「Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers」』なんだなぁ～！
このゲームは横スクロールのシューティングだよ。最大の特徴は…見てわかる通りとってもレトロな画面！モノクロ時代の映画さながらの表現が取り入れられているんだ！！地球を狙う宇宙人を相手をガンガン蹴散らしていこぉ～！！こういうシンプルな設定もレトロ映画の風味があるね。

『Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers(第51戦隊)』、完全クリア。1950年代の白黒SF映画らしさを徹底追及した横シューティング。デモシーンは本業の映画スタジオが担当する実写映像となっており、ゲーム・ムービーの双方でいい意味でチープなアートワークと表現技法が光る。
STG部分もモノクロ画面ゆえの見辛さはあるが、メインモードは各ステージごとに全力を出し切れる構成かつパターン攻略も可能。累計スコアで自機のカスタマイズがアンロックされる仕組みのおかげでやればやるほどクリアが見えてくるのがいい。個人的には8-9面がお気に入りである。
