Sunrise over urban neighbourhood. Trees, houses, a smokestack and a cement tower are silhouetted against the sky. The sky is mostly cloudy but an orange sun burns through close to the horizon. The clouds are in waves of shades of orange, green, purple and grey.

My groceries on my kitchen counter. Kitchen utensils and a blender are behind the food. Clockwise from 12:00 - A loaf of multigrain bred, a 1 lb bag of maple sugar, 2 ataulfo mangos on a dozen eggs, bag of green beans, 2 bananas, one orange, two egg tarts, two avocados, a pile of small potatoes, bagels, a bag of cubed orange squash, 1L maple syrup, 1kg jar of plain yogurt, bag of white cheese curds.

Mornings are colder and darker now but shopping at the St. Lawrence Market has become a habit. Snuggling down in bed is not an option. Mama needs groceries! The maple items will last me well into next year.

Large white ball like a giant mushroom top. It's a bit smaller than a basketball. It's sitting in a cardboard box on a table at the Market.

My groceries from this morning. Clockwise from 12:00 Two large mangos, a dozen eggs, two custard tarts, one croissant, a baked vegetable pot pie (6:00), two avocados, a pile of small potatoes, a plie of larger potatoes, a 1kg jar of plain yogurt, a baggie of white cheese curds.

Big surprise at the St. Lawrence Market this morning - A puffball! I haven't seen one of these since the 1980s. Back in the 1960s we'd find them growing wild in the woods. I don't like them (🍄‍🟫🤢) so I left it for someone who will appreciate this delicacy.

I missed the St. Lawrence Market while I was away in Newfoundland. The harvest has changed to squashes and root vegetables. I'll be making soups this week. New teapot, some pastries and some bread from St. John's Bakery. I'm glad to be back.
