It was misty monochrome on #stiperstones in #shropshire in search of #uksnow. Only at the highest elevations was it powdery, otherwise wet and sticky and quite slippy!
Some lovely #views from #stiperstones this morning in #shropshire. A cold wind blew and there was verglas on the tors, so didn’t make it up to the trig point this time.
Beautiful, if cold, #NewYear’s day walk. #Stiperstones and #LongMynd, #ChurchStretton, #Shropshire.
A meeting finished early coinciding with some fine winter weather? I’ll take it! #sunset from #stiperstones in #shropshire

Saying goodbye to the winter constellation. I created this image back in early March with a break in the clouds over Nipstone rock at the #stiperstones in south Shropshire.

#sunset from #stiperstones in #shropshire this #evening. Lovely light for a while, and still just about able to see without a headtorch at 6pm.
The calm before the storm reflected in the still waters #Stiperstones
It's all happening up at the Stiperstones today on Day 21 of the Yuletide Hauntings Advent Calendar. Any sign of Wild Edric today @g0blinegg.bsky.social ?

A male Linnet (a type of finch) perched on a Gorse bush and facing towards the left of the image. The bird's head is mostly grey in colour, with small white patches below the eye and some red on the front, above the short, stout beak. Each side of the chest is red, the belly is white, and the flanks brownish. The upper parts of the wings are brown, what we can see of the rest of the wing appears grey. The Gorse bush is covered with spikes, prickly green leaves, and yellow flowers.
To counter the relative lack of Linnets on BlueSky noticed by @naturemichelle.bsky.social, here's a male of the species, perched on a Gorse bush, to add some colour to this #PlumeScrolling thread. 🙂 Photographed at #Stiperstones in #Shropshire, at the end of May this year. #Birds #UKWildlife 🌿
Never On A Sunday, memories of the Stiperstones mining communities in Shropshire.
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be a gifted a copy of this amazing oral history of life on the #Stiperstones. It's full detail on many subjects, from the filming of Gone to Earth, to the bombing of the hills in WWII, and the family pig 😱 Recommended reading ✅

A brief stroll from home is a little hill with the most amazing panoramic view. We can see the Stiperstones, the Berwyns and the escarpments above the Afon Dyfrydwy/River Dee.
