Text of letter:
I moved to Clandon Close in 1947 with my parents and sister and, apart from 4 years working for ICI in the north of
England, I lived there until I was married in 1970.
Do any of you remember my sister Vasanta and me from the last century?
I used to walk almost a mile every day to the schools in Sparrow Farm and Chadacre Roads. My mother took me for
the first couple of days but after that I was in the charge of other children; Daphne Hillman, Eileen Stocks, David?
from 17, Clive Roskilly from 27, and others.
I recall the long conversations I used to have with the elderly blind lady, Mrs Field at 24, and learnt much from her
about life in the late 19th Century.
Other people 1 knew were the Meadows at 19, and the Coxs further down the road and also Peter Ray.
I used to play cricket with other children on the hill at bottom of the road. If anyone hit a ball into someone's garden
it was 6 and out. Even in those days there were sufficient cars for this to be an activity of dubious safety and firmly
disallowed when our parents found out!
Happy memories! I would love to hear from anyone who has distant memories of me and my sister.
With kind regards to you all,
Gopal Srinivasan

My neighbour has had a letter from an old resident, asking if anyone remembers them. If nothing else, it feels like a fun thing to do #Epsom #Stoneleigh #KT17
