June marks the beginning of #APSAwarenessMonth. I got my #APS diagnosis in August 2023 in a very dramatic way. The worst time to learn about #BloodClots is during a flight. Unfortunately I was on a 16 hour flight from Canada to Taiwan. I went into medical distress on my flight. An EVA Air flight attendent noticed I was not well. They ended up moving me to directly behind the pilot cabin and an attendant held my hand for the rest of the flight. I was brought off and taken directly to the hospital where I learned I have APS which is an autoimmune clotting disorder that makes me high risk for heart attack, stroke, and PE. I'm on blood thinners for life now. Don't get me started on the medical trauma with this diagnosis. I promise you'll learn more this month. The only reason APS was on my radar is because my friend Sheryl has it. When my rheumy broke the news, I was shocked and terrified. Learning to live in the aftermath of this terrifying diagnosis has been more challenging than my other diagnoses because this diagnosis can k*ll me in minutes. #AntiphospholipidSyndrome #DVT #PE #StopTheClot
