Apart from #StormLilian on the 22nd (the remnants of #HurricaneErnesto), August was a rather boring month weather-wise. Warmer and drier than the 1981-2010 average, and dull but with high atmospheric pressure.

Last week #StormLilian did a number on my (approx) 20ft grey willow tree. The tree is now very short, and so is my bank balance. But it was necessary. I was impressed with the skill and techniques used to deal with different branches to avoid them falling the wrong way. #TreeSurgery #FallenTree

Twigs on a lawn
Storm Lilian hit in the early hours of the morning, knocking a bin over and leaving minor damage in the garden. There are many small twigs on the lawn. It was the third significant storm of this week.
I hope everyone else is fine.

Woken by my bed being shaken. It was being shaken by my whole house. Which was being shaken by #StormLilian. I don't think my house has ever wobbled like that before. Part of the garden sofa has walked up the path towards us to offer reassurance.
