Uh... I use it as a call to the heart when life gets rough. When the characters need to feel saf, they go home.
That's not necessarily their childhood home or their current residence. It's where they feel safest i guess?

In current WIP: for Cara and Emilia, they both lost their home and were forced to flee after their love and secret elopement was discovered.
For Lux, they haven't had a home in years. One of their goals is to find one for themself as well as their new friends.

anyway THE KEEPER OF LONELY SPIRITS is the most obvious bc Peter quite literally lost his home, exiled by his curse and outliving everyone he's ever loved bc of said curse, but finds a new one thanks to his latest ghost hunt

Hey again #QueerWritersChat !! I'm Talli and I'm working on a bunch of different things right now; I have 1 big primary WIP (the beefy sequel to my vampire romance) and then 2 WIPs on the back burner vying for my attention. Overall I write about magic and vampires :)
Oh of course, I love doing that in my stories.
My current MC starts the story with a return to his hometown. He's separated himself from that place, and found his own kind of happiness, but then has to face the place/people he kinda abandoned :)

For a while it certainly does feel like that. After certain events take place, she feels as though the castle is foreign to her, and doesn't provide the comforts it once did.
Later on, she will find a new place to call home.
