Well, much to my surprise and delight, #StoryofaMurder has been nominated for an #EdgarAward!
Pencil sketch by William Hartley (one of 21 of the pre-trial hearings and trials of Crippen and his lover Ethel Le Neve in our collection), showing the moustachioed and besuited Dr William Willcox being cross-examined by Arthur Newton, part of Crippen's defence team. In the foreground is one of the wardresses from Holloway Prison who had charge of Le Neve, whilst another image inset at bottom right shows PC Gooch of the Met.
#OnThisDay 115 years ago began the trial of the murderer of Cora Crippen, a Polish-American music hall artiste also known by her stage name Belle Elmore. The investigation leading to it is fully covered in our #CM150 exhibition in Sidcup. #OTD #OnThisDayInHistory #truecrime #storyofamurder
Well, I woke up this morning and was completely stunned to learn that #StoryofaMurder had won the True Crime Book of the Year Award at Crime Con in the US!
A travesty that @hallierubenhold.bsky.social was not on this list for the excellent #StoryOfAMurder

Missing the islands but enthralled by the #trees in Sussex. I’m nearly at the end of #StoryOfAMurder by @hallierubenhold.bsky.social about the lives of everyone involved in the murder of Cora #Crippen. Jaw dropping! Highly recommend. 📚
I’ve realised that so many people who have listened to #StoryofaMurder as an audiobook haven’t had a chance to see any of the photos in the book. These are NEW and not in the book, but if you get a chance and want to put faces to names, do pick up a copy of the hardback, even for a peek.
People throw out treasure. I’m not going to say which library was throwing out this scrapbook of newspaper clippings from 1910-1911 DOCUMENTING THE ENTIRE CRIPPEN CASE, but it’s in the right hands now (mine). Literal archival material, including things I’d never seen before. #StoryofaMurder
Big thanks to all who came to Chorleywood Library to hear @hallierubenhold.bsky.social and I discuss #StoryOfAMurder and what a story! Hallie is truly special, radically refocusing historical cases you thought you knew. Thanks Sheryl and @chorleywoodbooks.bsky.social signed books in store now

@hallierubenhold.bsky.social Just finished #StoryOfAMurder absolutely fascinating story, as with your previous book, you’ve done an excellent job of putting the victim before the perpetrator, as it should be. Great work, loved it.
