This self-seeded foxglove is not yet in flower in my wild garden in Moseley, Birmingham, but it’s a #storyplant for #wildflowerhour because it’s just down the road from where botanist William Withering recognised it’s properties for treating dropsy
#Wildflowerhour #Storyplant. Butterbur (Petasites hybridus). Huge leaves were used in times prior to refrigeration for wrapping butter. The large pliable leaves were thick enough to protect butter and soak up any seepage. They are also used as umbrellas and sunshades.
