Image shows the circular ends of large wooden bobbins stacked up in a disorderly manner. Each shows notable wear and tear. Love industrial history and sewing so this bobbin mill was such a great place to visit. Many of the Silko thread bobbins I have inherited were likely to have been made here.

Photograph taken of a heap of unfinished bobbins all lying higgledy piggledy, illuminated by the light from a small window. Lots of shadow, lots of rough edges, lots of notches. Hole through the core of each also rough. Warm filter added to bring out the honey-coloured hues of the wood. One of lots of photographs taken at Stott Park Bobbin Mill in the Lake District, UK. A tray full of old, handmade and colourful wooden bobbins in a variety of sizes. The shafts of the bobbins are left natural but the ends have been painted in colours ranging from forget-me-not blue to orange, baby pink to olive green. Light from the window to the right casts a gentle glow. Love industrial history and sewing so this bobbin mill was such a great place to visit. Many of the Silko thread bobbins I have inherited were likely to have been made here.
